CHRISTMAS DECOR | BOOKSHELF EDITION

Hi there friends! A sweet friend invited me to join her and several other amazing women this weekend for a blog hop they do weekly called Welcome Home Sunday. I’ve linked all of their blogs below!

I just so happened to have a creative itch to scratch and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to embrace it and share it with all of you. I believe our homes have a tremendous impact on our lives, on our moods, senses, emotions…all the things. As a homemaker I find some of my joy in creating spaces that have purpose and beauty, and my home definitely plays a part in my wellbeing, after all many of us spend most of our days in our homes, so it makes sense our home environment would affect us.

Because of this I find myself longing for change as weeks and seasons come and go. If I’m feeling down or stressed a simple switcher-roo can lift my spirits. They don’t need to be big changes, sometime just little touches here and there. This is one of the reasons I love curating a collected home with simple treasures. The items are able to be moved easily from place to place and still offer purpose, even if its purpose is simply to look pretty. A simple changes often leave me feeling refreshed and inspired again.

Anyhoo…the sun was shining today and the itch to create felt fresh and alive in my soul so I snapped some pictures and thought I’d share them with you.

I know you can’t see very much in this picture, but I just loved the way the light was shining on the picture frame and everything else in the shot was dark. It was a picture I couldn’t pass up taking.

I decided to move some things around on my shelves and creative some new vignettes, here is what I came up with..

These shelves are in our front room, so they are basically the first thing you see when you come in this space. I love changing them up from time to time. Because it’s such a focal point in the room, I love creating small vignettes on each shelf. Shelf tip…if you’re not filling the entire shelf, try working in groups of three. This creates balanced sections. Adding in different, heights, tones and textures adds interest and personality to each vignette. Even though I tend to fill each shelf all the way across I still try to work in groupings so that everything is symmetrical and balanced.

I painted this little nativity set years ago. The boys love getting them out each year [and playing with them when I turn my back, ha! ] They could definitely use a little touch up, but I love them so much! These little houses are from Target dollar spot that I’ve collected over the years! I love that they can be used for Christmas + winter decor. One thing that these shelves will always have, my very favorite books! I adore the color they add to the white backdrop of the shelves. Collections that are both purposeful and beautiful to look at will always make my heart go pitter patter!

Thank you so much for popping in today! I hope you’re having a beautiful Holiday season so far!

Blessings ❤

Bree

  1. Your idea of placing one of the little bottle brush trees on a candlestick for added height is brilliant. My brain only goes as far as sticking a building block under my assorted elements. LOL
The overall effect of your Christmas decor is so pretty and fresh. Love it.
