SPRUCING UP FOR SPRING PART TWO

Hey there friends! Happy Friday and Happy Spring!! Here in the North East we welcomed Spring with a big ole’ snow storm, haha. If I’m being honest, I am totally over it. I’m ready for warmer temps and days filled with sunshine! How about you?

I’m so glad you’re stopping in today. If you’ve just come from Tara’s blog, welcome! I just love how she uses those minty green colors in her decor, like that stool! And her Flower Market theme is so pretty! If you’ve never been here before than I’d like to extend an extra welcome, and I hope this isn’t your last visit! I’m so glad to have teamed up with this huge group of bloggers. Be sure to head to all the blogs linked for you below! Every day has a different theme and there’s so much inspiration!

Today I wanted to share my simple S P R I N G mantle with you. This room just so happens to be undergoing a little bit of a makeover and this project seems to be dragging on forever. Such is life when your husband works 6 days a week and you’re a stay at home mom and homeschooler, I guess. I’m happy to report we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, though and it’ll be a great day when I can share the finished space with all of you! Thankfully I was able to at least get the built in and mantle wall finished in time for this post. In true “The Homemaking Momma” fashion my goal was simple and understated. With our walls now painted a creamy white it’s given me the opportunity to incorporate some fun accent colors without it feeling like too much. For me, nothing says S P R I N G more than some bright pops of color!

When we moved to this house a year ago my goal was to purge, purge, p u r g e!! Which at the time seemed like a great idea, less stuff means less to move, right?  Well now I’m facing the downside of purging and that is limited items in my stash for different holidays and seasons. A quick trip to Hobby Lobby was fixed that problem. For less than $30.00 I was able to add just a couple items to my stash to incorporate into my decor for S P R I N G. Scroll on down for all the details!

The wall color in this room is now painted, Natural Choice from Sherwin Williams. I absolutely love it. I think it compliments the stone so beautifully and it’s allowed me to incorporate some color without the space feeling to loud. As much as I loved the teal blue and still do. This just feels right! The new items in this room are those sweet little bunnies from Hobby Lobby. I found come beautiful faux flowers there as well. The lavender bush is so realistic, I kind of wish I would have bought more of them! I’m hoping to plant my own lavender this year, but until then this is the perfect alternative. The fern is also faux and is quite realistic! Another great alternative if you don’t want the upkeep of a real plant. I love mixing real and faux plant, but I don’t have the greenest thumb and ferns are a little to touchy for me. I’ve already killed two, haha. So I try to stick to really low maintenance plants.

The ball lights are from Target and I’ve linked them below for you. I think they add such a fun little touch. The paper flower garland is also from Target from a few seasons ago.

  2. Such a sweet mantle — love the pops of color in the florals. I have such a fondness of ferns and yours looks amazing in your crock too. Happy Spring!
