Bathroom Refresh

What started as me doing a bit of spring cleaning in our main bathroom quickly escalated to an entire bathroom refresh. I’m known to get a little side tracked from time to time, so I suppose this isn’t much of a surprise. First up on the bathroom refresh check list was of course a deep thorough spring cleaning.  Have you started your spring cleaning yet?

I opened the small window, blasted my favorite music and got to work. After all the scrubbing was done and over with I decided I wanted to update our shower curtain. For around $20-$25 [even less if you can find one second hand] you can easily transform the feel of a bathroom. I found this pretty one from Target online. It was described as gray and white striped, though the picture didn’t look very gray. I’m glad I decided to read the reviews…apparently some people were disappointed because it was beige and not gray, not me! Beige was exactly what I was hoping for. While curtain shopping I noticed Target was also having a sale on towels. Ours have certainly seen better days so I picked up a few of those as well. Last week I shared my thrift store haul, you can read about that here. I was thrilled to come across the perfect shelf for above our toilet. I’ve been looking for one for a while now!

That covers all of the new items. Then I pulled in an old metal stool, a curtain I had tucked away in the basement, an old braided jute rug that I had, and a few odds and ends to set on the shelf.

Here’s the cost breakdown:

Shower Curtain | $20

New Towels | $30

Thrifted Shelf | $6

So for under $60 dollars I was able to refresh our little bathroom and make it just a bit sweeter.

Some things I’d like to change when the budget allows:

New light fixture

New faucet

New cabinet pulls and a fresh coat of paint on the cabinet.

Frame out the mirror

Eventually the tile will all be replaced and the wallpaper removed, but I’m sure that will be years down the road!

Do you have any projects you’re working on right now? Maybe a small refresh on a budget too? I’d love to hear about it!

Several readers have recently asked about bathroom organization and I plan to address that with a separate post in the coming weeks. If you want to stay up to date be sure to sign up as an email subscriber that way you’ll receive email notification each time I post something new to the blog.

Thanks for stopping by today friends!

  1. I very recently did the same thing. Sadly I don’t have a window in my bathroom, but I still did a new shower curtain and rugs. I couldn’t find what I wanted … and I wanted all white so I just used a white cloth liner and my curtain, backed with a plastic liner. I wanted to upgrade my towels but I haven’t gotten to that yet…I think your bathroom looks great.
