One Room Challenge Week Two – Dining Room Update

Well this past week didn’t go according to plan. I had so many intentions of checking a whole bunch of things off my to-do list. On Friday after a month of being sick, my husband and mother in law, insisted that I finally go to the doctor. Well I went and the news wasn’t the best, pneumonia and a bad sinus infection. As much as I wanted to avoid medicine and antibiotics I didn’t want to mess around with pneumonia. Thankfully the antibiotics seem to be working and slowly but surely I’m getting better.

Over the weekend I was able to do a couple of things and my husband helped as well. The husband went and picked up the wood for our wainscoting, we decided to go with this. He was able to prime the boards and I’m hoping I can get a first coat on them this week.

I also got a chance to prime and paint the back interior of our corner cabinet. Originally I was thinking of papering the back, but I decided to use Bay Water on the back first to see if I liked that and I’m actually really loving it. I still need to finish priming and painting the rest. We decided to go with Extra White from Sherwin Williams on the hutch, Natural Choice [Sherwin Williams] on the walls and Bay Water from Behr color matched in Satin from Sherwin Williams on the wainscoting, thanks to all of my insta friends for helping me decide what to do!

I saw these beautiful cabinet pulls from the Hearth and Hand line at Target and ordered them for the corner cabinet. I think they are really go to make the piece stand out and feel like an old piece of furniture.

We are also talking about adding lighting inside the corner cabinet, we are still playing around with the idea, but I think it would really showcase all my ironstone. I have some pictures below of our [slow] progress so far.
