Welcome Friends!! I’m so excited to be participating in a Christmas blog hop today. My friend Kendra from Joy in Our Home has put together a wonderful group of bloggers this week in her Christmas Festival Blog Tour. If you are visiting from Christine’s blog, welcome! How pretty is her porch? I love all of the rustic details!
Be sure to stick around until the end of this post for all of the links to the other blogs!!
“It will not go out of my mind that if we pass this post and lantern, either we shall find strange adventures or else some great changes of our fortunes.“
The Chronicles of Narnia
One of my very favorite things about this little stone house of ours is the lamp post at the end of the front walkway. When I saw it for the first time all I kept picturing was snow covered ground and gray winter skies. Our little family looking out frosted windows at the lamp lit at the end of the street, while we are all snuggled up inside by the fire after playing out in the snow and Narnia, of course…hence the quote! I’m an imaginer and dreamer, haha. I can’t help but get lost sometimes thinking of the small simple treasures in life.
For our front porch this year I had one thought in mind, classic and simple. I really wanted to save money and only use what I had on hand and thats exactly what I did. I am hoping to check out the sales at the end of the season this year to stock up on more garland and faux trees to use for next year. But for now we are working with what we have!
I love that little sled that was my husband’s when he was a little boy! The boys love being pulled around on it when it snows!
My sweet little helper, he insisted on being in some of the pictures! I reused the garlands we had from our old house and then filled them in with fresh clippings from the yard and local greenhouse. Most places will let you have the scrap clippings for free…all you have to do is ask 😉
I love our little porch light and knew I wanted to add a little bit of Christmas cheer to it. Some fresh clipping and a bow make it festive but still simple!
We can’t forget the blow up for the kids…thankfully we were able to put them in our side yard so they aren’t taking over my front yard… Mom is happy and the kiddos are happy! It’s a win win 😉
“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
Norman Vincent Peale
….and then we were blessed with snow….what’s prettier than fresh fallen snow atop Christmas decor!?

Your porch decor is so pretty and such a nice welcome to your home. So nice you have that cute helper assisting you and he did a great job! The greenery on your railing looks wonderful and how special to have the sleigh that your husband had as a child! Nice idea to put the blow up ornaments in your side yard for the kids. 🙂
