If you remember several months ago Brandon and I began the task of fixing up the boys’ bedrooms. You can read about each one here and here. My plan for both spaces was simplicity, I believe one can never go wrong with simple. It’s also important to me to incorporate their own personal little treasures. Pops of color especially when it comes from vintage, well worn pieces make my little heart happy, so I try to incorporate that throughout our little home, too.
Even though their rooms are their own and I want them to reflect them personally I also want to keep them somewhat in line with the rest of the house. So just like the rest of our home I like to begin with a neutral base then add in some fun accents.
After we completed the rooms we [I mean Brandon] replaced the windows and oh what a difference that has made. Who knew windows could make one person so excited? But, alas they have, haha.
Now that we covered the back story I’ll get to the point of this post, ha. The only thing missing from their little rooms was proper bedding, then recently I saw a post from a fellow blogger about these awesome comforters called Beddy’s. The bedding fits snug over the mattress almost like a fitted sheet, but they are blankets that zip on the sides. Think sleeping bags, but so much more awesome. They have several different styles and fit all bed sizes. When I saw they had black and white buffalo check I knew it would be perfect for Braedan’s room. I decided to go with the checked out zipper bedding with the matching check mate blanket, both are lined with a super soft bubble micro-fleece fabric too. The buffalo pattern is simple and classic, perfect for my little guy’s room!
Over the years I’ve been trying to get Braedan to complete small tasks. Make his bed, clear the table, help empty the dishwasher. Things that are simple for a six year old. Only making his bed never looked very simple because it normally looked like there was a struggle and his bedding usually won. So obviously the first thing about Beddy’s that caught my attention was that it zipped up. How much easier could it be for a kid to make his bed, am-i-right? Well I was right, it’s so easy, no more struggle and he truly loves it, which makes this Mama happy!
My initial intention was to only get bedding for Braedan’s room, for now, because he has literally just been using throw blankets and never really had a proper comforter. But, if any of you have more than one child especially if they are the same gender, then I’m sure you can relate to their need to have everything the same. And maybe like us, have many doubles of things just to keep the peace, haha. Well needless to say Benjamin was upset that Braedan was getting a “new bed” as he called it. So I decided to use the check mate blanket which is also lined with the super soft fabric to use on Benjamin’s bed, for the time being. But, I know we will definitely be getting another zip up comforter for Benjamin’s room in the near future. Scroll on down to see lots of pictures…
