A Living Room Remodel

Hello Hello!! I’m so excited about today’s post! I honestly never thought I would be able to speak these words…We found our forever home. There are so many emotions that my heart has been flooded with lately. I feel blessed, grateful, relieved, excited, anxious..I’m sure I could go on. We really feel like this is exactly what God has intended for us all along. The years of waiting felt long and I felt discouraged more often than I’d like to admit. But all the waiting and wondering was so worth it.

Our settlement is scheduled for the middle of March and while I know it will be here before we know it, the day can’t come soon enough. I am just so excited to get into our new home and start working at it and making new memories! The home was built in the 50’s and it truly is what we’ve always hoped for and more. It is slightly dated so of course there are things we will eventually change but it really is a darling little house! I can’t wait to share this new adventure with all of you!

Our initial plan when we first move in is to work on the boys’ rooms. I’m so excited for them to each have their own space. Because, the bedrooms need the least amount of work, we hope that that’s a project we can complete pretty quickly. Then I really want to focus on the main living room. I don’t have any pictures of the home that I can share with y’all but I can tell you there’s a stone fireplace in the living room, yay!! There’s also a built in bookcase (both of which I’m so excited about) So today I thought it would be fun to share some of my ideas on where I want to take the room decoratively. It’s really important for us financially to try to utilize what we already have. So I hoping to add a few new pieces such a lamps and pillows to just freshen up what we already have.

I don’t really know what to call this “look” I feel like I lean towards so many different styles but, I guess I would call this…mid century modern farmhouse…ish… haha. I don’t want to stick to just one particular style because thats just not me. So even though there are different style elements I feel like it all works, at least it does to me. At the end of the day all that matters is that you love your home just as it is, whether it’s on trend or not. Your home should be a reflection of you, your family, and what you love.

So here’s a little sneak peek into what I’m thinking and I’ve linked all the sources for you below!! I can’t wait to hear what you think.

Shop This Look

We already own a sofa similar to the one pictured. It’s in our basement and it’s in really good condition so we have no plans of replacing it at this time. So I sort of designed the room around what we already own.

Tulip Wallpaper

I’m in love love love with this wallpaper, my plan is to do an accent wall above the fireplace with the wallpaper. In my mind it’ll look awesome…lets hope it looks as pretty as I’m envisioning, haha.

Ikea Chair

I’m in love with this chair and it’s mid century design…my husband on the other hand is not in love with this chair. I think it’ll be very hard to convince him so it will probably never happen but, a girl can dream, right?

Mid Century Modern End Table

So originally I liked the one picture above in the collage but then it disappeared off of Targets website, so I found this one, which I like equally.

I’ve been drooling over this lamp for.ev.er!! It’s definitely a must have for the new house.

nesting-tables

I really appreciate the simplicity of these nesting tables. The living room is a large space and right now we only have one sofa that will work in that space. So it’s going to look a little empty until we can save up for more furniture. My plan is to use our industrial shelves that we DIYed in the living room and add some casters to the bottom for a fun little touch. Unfortunately there isn’t enough room in the kitchen or dining room for those shelves so the living room seems like the next likely place. I’m so use to styling them for my kitchen, this should be a fun little project to decorate them for a living room, I’m thinking books and plants and maybe some more books, haha.

I just love this lamp not sure exactly where I would put it but I think it’s just lovely and know I’d find a place for it.

We already have this clock from Hobby Lobby and I really like it, so I’m thinking maybe above the fireplace…I haven’t decided yet…

Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig

I have a faux fiddle that I’ll likely put in the living room, and if not I’m hoping to get a real one. There a big window in the living room plus a smaller one on the side of the house. It is south facing so I feel like it probably has amazing afternoon light.

Knitted Pillow Cover

I threw these pillow covers in just for fun. I feel like pillows are such an inexpensive way to freshen up a space. So I may or may not snag a few once we are all moved in. I love the soft green with the black in the room, and crocheted white pillows…I feel like it doesn’t get much better than that, haha!

So there you have it just a few ideas of what I’ve been dreaming up! I can’t wait to share this new adventure with all of you and update you and we settle into our new home!

Blessings Friends!

  1. So exciting! Congratulations! Looking forward to pictures!
Our home was a fixer when we bought it a year and a half ago. I mean a FIXER. It’s a little old brick farmhouse and we are just loving living here.
