In The Morning When I Rise

Fun little fact that many of you probably don’t know, I’m naturally not a morning person…I still remember my mom literally having to pull all the covers off me and basically pulling me out of bed to get me up for school, haha. While I’m not that dramatic anymore, I mean lets face it, sleeping in becomes a distant memory once you become a parent. But, I’ve found ways to enjoy mornings and I’m slowly, the older I get, becoming a morning person. Half out of necessity and half out of desire, haha. So today I’m sharing my daily morning routine and ways I’ve found bring joy to my mornings!

Don’t hit snooze, haha. Avoid that trap!!  If you have to get up, then get up. Seize the day, friends!! Carpe Diem, right!? Out of personal experience my days seem to go so much smoother if I just get up and get to it.9a73f49b-b0df-4b4f-ae1b-4252096cc535

Take a minute to stretch, I’m not sure of the scientific reasons of why stretching is so awesome but I think we can all agree stretching our bodies out after a good nights sleep just down right feels fantastic.

Make your bed. I feel like when my bed is made the rest of my home is some how in order.

Get that coffee brewing…and if you don’t like coffee, maybe some tea? I feel like a warm cup of something is so comforting that it instantly puts me in a good mood.

Take some time for reflection, prayer, personal development whatever you want to call it. I personally grab my warm cup of coffee, head to my favorite spot on our couch and curl up with my bible/devotional. I don’t normally have a lot of time because once my kiddos hear the slightest noise they are up. I feel like they can sense I’m not on the same floor as them anymore, haha. I try to take at least 15 minutes in the morning for myself to pray and read my bible. I use this time to reflect, think about what I’d like to focus on and what I need to be more intentional about. These quiet moments set the tone for the rest of my day.

Eat a yummy breakfast. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the older I get the more I believe this. A filling breakfast starts my day off right. Some of my favorites are baked oatmeal and eggs + sweet potato hash. Both are hearty and filling and give me the energy I need to get my day started. Also eating healthy first thing in the morning honestly sets the tone for the rest of the day. If I start the day with a good meal I’m less likely to indulge in junk food during the day.

So thats how I like start my day. I’d love to hear all about your morning routines. Feel free to leave me some comments below!

Blessings Friends!

  1. I’m new here. I think I’ve found a kindred spirit. I love that you show pictures of your bible, and the verse signs you have up. I have oatmeal every morning with a slice of peanut butter toast for some protein. I will check back daily or every other day. Thank you for the time you spend on this lovely blog. Joanna 🙂
