I’m not one for New Years resolutions. I believe I’m a work in progress all year long and often try to take time for reflection and personal inspection throughout the year. However, I do look at the new year as a fresh start and a great time for setting goals and making plans for the year ahead. So I thought it would be fun to share some of my goals with all of you!
My word this year is “simplicity”
This year I want to create a simpler lifestyle. Simpler meals, simpler decor. Less stuff, less clutter. I want to simplify as many areas of my life as I can. I want to focus my attention and energies on the important things and not worry so much about the little things.
Living Simple…is learning how to take care of yourself; it is knowing that whatever tomorrow brings you will handle it with grace and humility, and it means you can live on less and are happy about it. – our simple homestead.
Read more. I really want to work on dedicating time to read more. I definitely would like to spend more time in the morning reading my bible. Spending time in the word is the perfect way to start my day however, sometimes I don’t spend enough time or I’ve skipped it all together. I really need to be more intentional and diligent. I’d also like to spend more time reading books. It’s so easy to just turn the t.v. on when I have some quiet time…can anyone else relate? I recently re-activated my audible account and my goal is to read at least one new book a month. Hopefully audible will help me to turn the t.v. off and listen to a book instead.
Spend more time in the kitchen.
I would like to get back on track cooking 80-90 perfect of our meals. I sort of fell of the wagon towards the end of the year. I’d also like to explore things like canning and homemade natural cleaners. I’ve actually just tried making my own natural cleaner. I am really excited to share that simple DIY with y’all in the days to come. I’d also love to start making homemade bone broth for my family. Those are just some of the things I’m thinking of and of course I’ll be sharing everything along the way.
This one is kind of silly but, I want to paint my nails more. This is just not something that I normally make time for. But, I love the way it makes me feel when I have my nails painted a fun color. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Purge all the excess. My goal is to slowly go through everything in our home and be very selective of what I keep. I’ve done this in the past years but, I was never super strict with myself. The older I get the less “stuff” I want. It’s just part of living more simply. I’m really excited about this one, haha. This also means avoid bringing new things in to our home and possibly a yard sale 😉
Travel more. We just recently traveled to Florida to Disney World (it was so much fun) Hopefully I get a chance to put a post together with some pictures and share a little bit about our trip with all of you. I’d really like to put money aside this year to travel a bit this summer when Braedan is off from school. There are so many places I’ve never been and I really want to try to focus our attention on collecting memories, not things. What are some of your favorite places to go to?

Spend more time on my prayer life, this kind of goes along with reading more. Normally I like to spend time reading my bible then pray before I start my day. I also pray throughout the day and at night before bed. But sometimes it can seem more routine than genuine. I really want to focus on quieting my thoughts and really dedicate time to just prayer. I want to be faithful in prayer.
Get back on track with memorizing scripture. I would also really like to try to do some bible studies and maybe some journaling. I use to attend a women’s bible study group and I really miss it. I just bought this bible study from The Daily Grace Co. and I’m so excited to get started!! If you have this one as well I’d love to chat along the way so feel free to get in touch with me!
Focus on growing my blog. I really want to dedicate more time to my blog, collaborate with more people and just share whatever I can with all of you. As a stay at home mom this is such a fun outlet for me to share my ideas and things I love and I’m so looking forward to whats to come this year. I have some fun ideas up my sleeve.
Stay on track with my nutrition and fitness routine. I try to workout 5-6 days a week. My goal is to keep up with this routine. I was also thinking of maybe trying out Whole30. I know many people who have done it and I’m really considering giving it a go round. Have you tried Whole30? I’d love to hear your thoughts!!
