Refresh Your Home For Spring

Happy Friday Y’all!!

We are finally starting to see some sunshine and warmer weather. I don’t know about you, but this Mama is so ready for summer. All the gloomy weather we’ve had in my neck of the woods doesn’t really make we want to get up and do things. I need that sunshine. Spring is so exciting, all the green, sunshine after a long cold winter. It’s good for the soul. I think thats why I love spring cleaning so much, the freshness of the new season is so encouraging. It just makes me want to freshen up my home as well. So grab a cup of coffee/tea/or whatever your beverage of choice is and join me!

One. Clean, clean clean! Move from top to bottom, deep cleaning and purging one room at a time. You don’t have to do this all in one day, obviously! Ain’t nobody got time for that!! I like to start from the top and move through the rooms to the downstairs. For me this just works best. Usually I start in our bedroom. I go through our shared closet, and drawers. I take everything out. Go through it. Have a purge, keep and donate pile. I clean the drawers and inside of the closet, you’d be surprised how much dust my closet accumulates. I also like to really deep clean my windows, as well as baseboards, walls, and wood moldings. I do the same thing for the boys room, bathroom, living room, kitchen, ect.

Two. I get rid of my trash and donate piles right away. The longer it sits the more likely someone is going to go through it and want to keep something! Get it outta the house asap!!

Three. I take down all my curtains and wash them. Curtains are huge dust collectors. I usually try to wash them a couple times a year, but especially at the beginning of spring. You’d be surprised how fresh your room will feel with newly washed curtains! And while you’re at it washing windows and curtains, open those babies up!! Let all that fresh spring air in!!

Four. I know I’ve said it before but I love love love to rearrange. My husband jokes that one new decor item could lead to a whole house remodel…haha, there may be some truth in that, just kidding, kind of! As much as I love getting a new decor piece I think I like what I lovingly refer to as shopping my house. I personally shop my home a lot ,but spring cleaning is the perfect time to do this. You’re already going through everything, why not change it up a bit. Take everything down from your shelves and out of hutches or open cabinets. Lay it all out and just have fun. Move things around. Don’t be afraid to try something new and different. I believe there are no rules when it comes to decorating your home. If you love it and it makes you and your family happy, just do it!

I like to rearrange these shelves often – I just recently rearranged them for spring.

Five. Fill you home with fresh or faux greenery and florals. There is something so refreshing about flowers and greenery. If you’re like me and you have a major black thumb go faux. I have greenery in every room of my home and it adds so much life to the room. It makes my home feel relaxing, light and fresh. I must say, I have surprisingly been able to keep a cactus and a potted plant alive for about three months now. Not sure what the plant even is, but it’s alive and thats all that matters, haha! Whatever you decide, you can’t go wrong! I personally love these faux potted plants from Ikea. and at only $5.99 a piece they are very affordable!
